A very lovely slender antique Japanese ikebana basket made of bamboo. This is made in Osaka, we personally got this from a collector during our trip in Kyoto. The basket is tall and shows signs of age, the color changed into a beautiful lacquered brownish color. The basket will make a great flower vase for tea representation, includes the bamboo container that holds the water (as seen on the photos). If you love the true essence of art baskets weaving, this will make a great gift for yourself and can always pass on to your loved ones.

A tradition ikebana bamboo basket, the art of flower arrangement has been developed as typically Japanese form of art side by side with the tea ceremony. It has its roots in the 6th century, the ritual flower offering by the Buddhist priests. However, it was not until 15th century that the arrangement of flowers developed into an art form. The Ikebono school, founded by senkei Ikebono in the mid 15th century, is thought to be the oldest flower arrangement school. In the course of its history, many other schools have been founded, Enshu, Oryu, Ohara, Adachi and Sogetsu.
