Stylish post-modern white laminate rolling low coffee table
or end table on casters in the style of Brian Kane’s rubber armchairs for
Metropolitan. Comprised of maple plywood with white plastic laminate on upper
side and black plastic edge trim, powder coated steel frame, rubber/foam
bumpers, and locking casters. Wonderful condition with no outstanding flaws
detected. It does have one small nick to the white laminate and the maple
underside is faded. Please see photos. Circa Late 20th Century.
Isn’t this an awesome coffee table? End table? No, coffee
table? Well, really it would be great as either. We aren’t sure if this beauty is
a mass-produced table or custom designed. We’ve not found another like it and it
really has a unique post-modern appearance. It reminds us of the rubber clad
chairs by Brian Kane for Metropolitan. Its steel frame has a textured hammarite-like
finish with shades of black and silver gray and is perched upon four locking
casters. Foam/rubber bumpers not only give this coffee table a stylish look, but
it also provides a little comfort in the corners for unforeseen smacks of the
shin! The white laminate tabletop flips over if you want to change the look; however,
the maple is faded and marked with an X from setting on the base all these
years; so, will most likely need to be refinished if you wish to do that. This
is a great accent table that will look wonderful however you choose to use it.
Between two lounge chairs, in front of the sofa, as an end table holding some
books, or in front of a window as a display table for your favorite piece. Its
post-modern design will work well with your modern or mid-century modern décor
and look fabulous in your industrial loft. So, whatever way you decide to use
this table or your design style…you need to make it yours!
