New old stock. Mint Condition. New and sealed packs.

Issued by Slough-based company Primrose Confectionery Limited, a set of 25 sweet cigarette cards to tie in with the Dad's Army movie released in 1971. The cards were printed on lightweight paper, far thinner than you would expect cigarette cards to be.

The pictures on this series/collection illustrate a variety of different scenes and some photographs have not appeared in any other form but this, making them a MUST HAVE item for the serious DAD'S ARMY collector.

The mere notion of sweet cigarettes these days is not politically correct and not a good example to children when warning them on the dangers of smoking. The term these days is known as candy sticks. But back in the 1970's candy sticks or sweet cigarettes, long white sticks with a red tip, were commonplace in sweet shops, they generally retailed around 5 pence and would come in a pretty cardboard box decorated with cartoon characters. However, once you opened the box your fixation would not be on the sweets, but the picture card that came free with the packet. These would generally measure 2.5 inches by 1.5 inches and contain a picture of the star or series featured on the box.

A Dad's Army tribute website states that they are, "A very interesting collection to own".
