Christoph Keller, known as 'Cellarius' (1638 - 1707) was a German classical scholar and historical geographer from Schmalkalden who taught at Weimar and Halle Universities.  He popularised the division of history into Ancient, Medieval & Modern and after him this tripartite division became standard.  He wrote a number of works of historical geography, one of the most popular being 'Geographia Antiqua' first published in the 1690s.  This map comes from the 1745 Latin edition published in London by with maps engraved by Richard William Seale (active 1732 - 75) and Henry William Toms (active 1723 - 58).
