Icicle radish has a thin white skin and offers a mild radish flavor and crisp texture. This long rooted radish is typically about four to six inches in length and capped with edible greens. The pure white flesh of the Icicle radish is less piquant than the common red radish. Roasting the Icicle radish will bring out a subtly sweet flavor. 

 Icicle radishes are typically available year-round.

 How to Sow

1.Sow radishes seeds in well-worked soil after danger of frost in early spring, deeply worked up soil about 1/2" deep.

2. again in late summer for fall crop. In frost free areas, sow in the fall.

3.Sow thinly in rows about 6" apart.

4.Seedlings emerge in 4-6 days.

5.Thin to stand about 2" apart.

6.Sow winter radishes in midsummer for late fall and winter use.


 Growing

Radishes do well with consistently moist and the addition of organic matter such as compost. Do not allow the soil to dry out, but also avoid over watering as this can cause splitting.

 

Harvesting

White Icicle radishes can be harvested at any time up to their mature length of 5 inches. The flavor is strongest at a small size, and becomes more mild as the radish matures.
