The Game
Under A Killing Moon snuck up on me like a good mystery novel. More than a game this interactive movie allows you to explore every square inch of your 3D environment. Crawl under desks, open drawers, and scrutinize every stain on the floor as you unravel the mystery that consumes you. The unparalleled graphics, complex characters and complete freedom of movement will convince you that you are the main character in this intriguing mystery movie.

As in many good whodunits, the plot revolves around a sympathetic, street-smart hero and has enough twists to hold your attention for hours, if not days. You play as Tex Murphy, a down-and-out gumshoe in post-apocalyptic San Francisco circa 2042. Genetic purity is the hot-button issue of the day, separating the Mutants from the Norms. Now, a band of Norms has set out to rid the world of "impure" Mutants, and as Tex -- a Norm with a conscience -- it's your job to stop them.

You have six days by the game's calendar to solve a variety of mysteries, each of which pulls you deeper into the story. You'll have run-ins with Mutants and Norms alike, and you'll have to use your wits and the items you collect along the way to solve the puzzles, which are logical enough once you find the right objects. But that's the tricky part, because small, critical items are often well-hidden. Beginners can use the extensive on-screen hint system, which delivers just the right clues at just the right time.

The action unfolds at breakneck speed. Movement is close to film-quality, and the acting is unusually good by multimedia computer game standards. Hollywood vets Brian Keith, Margot Kidder and James Earl Jones get top billing, but the real star of this show is Chris Jones, who portrays Tex.
