Review of the UEFA 2004 European Football Championships in Portugal. High drama prevailed from the outset as the hosts, to the surprise of almost everyone, conceded the opening match to Greece - an event that was, incredibly, replicated in the final. Meanwhile, England lost to Portugal on penalties in the Quarter Finals, with England captain David Beckham sending the opening penalty kick skywards - and the England team on the next plane home.
