DESCRIPTION:
Clean, with no stains, unpleasant, foul odors, color diminishment, wool fiber loss, embedded organic matter, wear patterns or other condition issues that often plague these wonderful 100 to 135 year-old, late 19th to early 20th century American folk art antique hooked rugs. With still bright, vivid, saturated natural fiber colors, this authentic, original, period hooked rug, was apparently well cared for and wasn't placed at the damaging feet of dogs, cats or indiscriminate children at play. The rug wasn't from a smoker's home, as it's devoid of residual tobacco smells or yellowing, caused from the lingering tar of cigar, pipe and cigarette smoke. It's completely handmade and hand woven with natural fiber wool, dyed with cranberry red, warm pewter gray, soft antique white, canary yellow, cerulean blue and black thin bands. The rug doesn't have a backing cloth and the repeating floral pattern on the front or show side of the rug is also visible on the back. The edge is unfrayed and intact, circumnavigating the entire margin of the rug. Very beautiful and incredibly well-preserved. Absolutely beautiful. 'Art under your feet.'

CONDITION:
Good to Very Good overall antique condition.
