3 illustrated articles from a rare Victorian 1891 periodical, the first article is entitled "Mrs Humphrey Ward" a 3 page article on this lady author

Includes illustration of Mary Augusta Ward and details on her life and work

The second article is entitled "How Pianos are Made" by Joseph Hatton with illustrations by W H Margetson 10 pages concerning the work of John Brinsmead at Kentish Town with illustrations as follows-

  • In the saw mill
  • clamping grand piano case
  • preparing iron frame for enamelling
  • strengthening a sounding board using gobars
  • fitting action to grand
  • Stringing
  • in the special fitting room


    The third is entitled "The Mosques of Tlemcen" 6 pages written and illustrated by Edgar Barclay

    Illustrations include-

  • Mosque of Sidi Haloni
  • Ruined tomb at Agadir
  • A Jewess

    Some pages may be showing signs of foxing / browning due to the age of the paper
