A message from the artist about this painting:

"This painting began as a value study, all black and white with lesser values in grey. At some point the brush just kind of took control and I submitted to its leading. This is what we as artists call being in “the zone”. Our best work is often produced while we visit this place. Every one of us wish we could just set the zone as a daily destination, but for most of us, it’s more like a too short vacation spot. Never-the-less, I try to get there whenever I can.

I am pleased with the emotion this equine portrait invokes in almost every viewer. It’s nearly monochromic palette leads you right into the loneliness of this horses’ being. To be sure you knew where I wanted you to look, I added the amber hint of color to the eye near the end of my work on the piece. I wanted to draw you right into the heart of what I feel is one of my best productions of equine art.

I am often asked if I will accept custom work and commissioned pieces of loved ones, pets and even prized fishing lures. By nature I paint what I see, but when given artistic license I often will add my own flair as you see here below. If you are interested in a commissioned piece, you can contact me through my website."

About the artist, Teresa Wade:

Teresa considers herself a “mission minded” painter. She has no formal training or schooling that involves a brush. She says she "can’t simply sit down and paint, at least not anything you would want to hang on your wall." She says she must wait until she is moved by something, or someone. Each painting she prayerfully pours herself into usually tells a story. She often gives away what was on her heart at the time, by the title she gives it and the moodiness of the colors used.

Teresa became inspired to paint when she was seeking a way to raise funds for the pastor’s ministry that she and her husband are actively involved in. She says it wasn’t a complicated inspiration, quite simple really — she just offered her hands in service. She prayed that if God would gift her hands and enable her to produce a work someone might want, she would give all the funds generated to Him. 100% of the proceeds received through your purchase of her paintings and prints go directly to the ministry Salt Mountain.

Anything she feels is worthy of making available for sale, she considers a gift. It is her way of giving back to those who spend their whole life serving others. Her paintings have become a very personal way that she serves broken Pastors and their families. They are the whole reason she paints. When she finishes a painting, she says she is ever amazed that it was born of her hand. She is quite sure she is not the true author of any of them. She humbly claims that she is just the girl who held the brush and the vessel used to tell the story.
