Plymouth City Transport Buses, Set A 11 6x4” colour print photos


Plymouth Corporation operated trams from 1892 to 1945 and buses from the 1920s with a joint agreement with Western National from 1942. The oldest vehicle in our collection is tow bus No 2, on trade plates 520DR. It was PCT 319, DJY949, a Leyland Titan PD2/1 of 1948. Leyland Titan 358, originally 58, MCO658 is a Leyland Titan PD2/12 of 1956 with MCW body converted to open top form. 222, JJY622G is a Leyland Atlantean PDR2/1 with PRV H47/32D body of 1969 and is in traditional PCT red and cream. No 98, LTK98R, is an Atlantean AN68A/1R with Roe H43/30F body from 1977, whilst OCO115S began as No 115 but became No 309; it too is an Atlantean AN68A/1R with Roe body but of 1978. In 1986 Plymouth Citybus was formed as a council owned company. 112, L112YOD, in Plymouth Garden Centre advertising livery, is a Dennis Dart  with Plaxton B40F body of 1993. No 30, M130HOD, is blue Newton Abbot Racecourse livery is another Dart with Plaxton B40F body, of 1994. No’s 16 and 19, R116OJF and R119OJF, both of 1998, are Dennis Dart SLFs with Plaxton B39F bodies in the new red, white and grey livery of Cirybus, but with different SuperRider branding. Citybus X202CDV,No 202 is in green and orange Super Park & Rider Colours, and is a Dennis Dart SLF with B29F body of 2000, whilst No 204 is red and white cityBUS livery is a sister vehicle, so each of the post-1986 buses is in a different livery!  A copy of these notes accompanies the set.
