 DESCRIPTION:
For sale is this very clean and nearly originally constituted, Blair mid-20th century American vintage glazed porcelain ceramic apothecary jar, with front wall transfer graphic iconography and gold gilt rimmed original lid cover. The jar is decorated with transfer graphic iconography of leafy, decorative vines, mortar and pestle located on top of the window created by the frame and a double snake, rod and winged medical symbol of Caduceus on the bottom. In the center of the porcelain jar is the transfer high case lettering 'Petrolatum Album.' The lid is original to the vessel and doesn't suffer from any edge flea-bites, ceramic loss or fractures. The gold gilt glazed decorative banding found circumnavigating the entire edge of the lid cover, is unscathed and in nearly originally constituted condition. The porcelain surfaces are glossy and reflective and the blue, green, yellow and black colors of the transfer imagery aren't scathed by scuffs or abrasions. The apothecary jar is stamped on the baseplate 'Fashioned by Blair.' This is the first of four similar jars. Very handsome and very clean.
