Of interest is the fact that this match was contested in nearly 100 degree heat, truly extraordinary for Wimbledon weather. As the match goes on and continues to seesaw between the ladies, each of them plays more & more attacking tennis, seeking to end points more quickly. Twice Sabatini serves for the match and twice her serve lets her down. There are marvelous athletic points throughout, particularly as the match intensifies toward the end. A real heartbreaker for Sabatini. One of Steffi's greatest victories.
