Adafruit WINC1500 WLAN / WiFi Shield with board antenna

Connect your Arduino to the internet using Adafruit's WiFi shield. The basis of the shield is the ATWINC1500 WLAN module from Atmel, which supports the 802.11b / g / n standards and is characterized by its reliability.

The communication between the Adafruit ATWINC1500 WiFi Shield and your microcontroller board takes place via SPI and some GPIOs, so that a total of six lines are required. The library provided by Atmel is particularly suitable for SAMD21-based boards, such as the Arduino M0 Pro or that Adafruit Metro M0 Express, but also the Arduino Mega. The shield also works with an Arduino Uno, but the library takes up almost the entire memory of the microcontroller, making it difficult to implement more complex projects.

The WLAN module supports 802.11b, g and n networks, WEP, WPA and WPA2 encryption and can be configured as an access point. TSL 1.2 is available for the secure connection. The shield already has an integrated circuit board antenna and level converter, which means that it can be operated on both 3.3V and 5V boards without any problems. There is also a practical MicroSD card slot on the shield. Please note that the memory of an Arduino Uno is not sufficient for the simultaneous use of the WLAN and SD library.
