DESCRIPTION:
This early 19th century Dixon and Son, Sheffield, England ornate and wonderfully decorated pewter creamer and sugar set, with intact, decorative side double and single handles, are about now at least 200 years old and remain in simply very well preserved, estate fresh, extraordinary condition. The pewter sugar and creamer's metal sidewalls aren't dinged, creased or dented, as are often similar sugars and creamers made out of pewter from the same period, due to the lead content in the pewter, making them somewhat soft and prone to becoming deformed, should they be dropped on a floor. This pair of pieces from an original tea set (with the Dixon & Son, Sheffield, England pewter teapot having been already listed separately) all have stout, oblong, swag forms, which are particularly early, with many of the Georgian decorative sensibilities still on display (in the early 19th century Federal period it was most likely fashioned.) Most notable would be the magnificent, inscribed, sgraffito etched pewter sugar and creamer's sidewalls, hosting a decorative floral motif. Decorative balance is achieved with the four ornate claw feet holding the two handled sugar and single handled creamer firmly on a table top or counter, with particularly ornate, scalloped encrusted leaf motifs, connecting the legs to the bottom of each form. Both the sugar and creamer have an encrusted, twisted rope edge which makes them even more decorative and even more particularly ornate. Georgian, early 19th century English decorative elegance on display. Very fine. Absolutely gorgeous. Estate fresh, undamaged and close to how they were originally constituted, now near or more than 200 years ago. Splendid.

CONDITION:
Very Good to Excellent overall antique condition.
