Cant decide which poppies you would like to try? Now is your time to get a great mix. I have selected a few photos out of my hundreds of photos. My most popular mix by far!My seeds are home grown by me each year. At the end of summer I harvest my seeds and let them settle and dry for a month or so. I then prepare them by using a double sifting method. I first use a sifter that lets the seeds out, but prevents the bits of leaves, and pods, and yes a few earwigs or two from getting through. I then use a different tiny sifter that keeps only the biggest whole seeds in, but sifts out the smaller underdeveloped seeds.. Yes, it is a lot of work!!!I have been selling my seeds on ebay since 1998*
Random Pictures from my Garden
Great for Fresh Floral arrangements
They look fabulous when paired with the peonies, foxglove, and daisies
Some of mine plants grow to 6' tall
All of the poppies in this mix are an annuals, meaning the complete their life during one season. The germinate, grow, flower, go to seed and then die all in one season. They love full sun, but can be grown in partial shade as well. The optimum planting time is in late summer going into fall so they are stratified and go through the winter solstice. The seeds need cold stratification in order to germinate in the spring. If planting in Spring, Plant while temps are still below 50 after a couple weeks in the fridge. The photo below is in full sun and shows the poppies mixed in with my other flowers
They have been coming back as gorgeous as the year before, year after year!
My seeds are home grown. All of the photos are of my current garden or from the garden at my previous house.. I do not live on a growing farm or any farm for that matter. This auction is for a mixed bag of seeds. After harvesting select plants for individual sale, I put all the remaining seeds together in one container. This will be a surprise mix. I cannot say for certainty how many of each seed will be in each packet.. I also have other colors listed separately. The seeds germinate freely and you will never have to buy them again, unless you want other colors. Your plants will produce so many seeds that they can be easily used for baking, hence the nickname "breadseed poppies".Germination testing on this years seeds were a complete success. The problem with this is that you will have thousands of microscopic plants that a some point should be thinned. The best way to remedy this is to mix your seeds with sand and then sprinkle on the soil like Salt.I will send 2 teaspoons. I'm not counting them, you can. I will include the planting instructions with every order. It is nearly impossible to count out thousands of poppy seeds. I have NO idea how some people sell 50 or 100 seeds.
