- Maurice
de Vlaminck, (1876-1958). Considered
one of the principal figures of the Fauve movement, modern artists
from 1904-08 that were united in their use of intense color. His
painting career spanned
several 19th
century and early 20th
century styles.
Provenance
– Personal library of late Carl Duke, Milton, FL (1931-2018), head of Pensacola
State College Art Dept (1957-1987). They were avid antique and art collectors.
Carl and his wife JoLynn were graduates of the Art Institute of Chicago (1954,
1956). His artwork has been exhibited at Smithsonian Institution, Denver
Museum, Birmingham Museum of Art, Isaac Delgado Museum (New Orleans Museum of
Art), Daytona Beach Art Center and other places in the USA and other countries.
