Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a beautiful 1940's era Turner CD "bullet" microphone with classic, clean lines and heavy deco influence. The dynamic BD and CD (dynamic) series were originally intended as "general purpose" microphones as were the BX and BD crystal models. This is the chrome plated dynamic version. These could be used for dispatch and also for singing as I've seen these used in old bands from the 1940's and 50's. Today these are sought after as excellent harp mics for use with a harmonica due to their gritty, muddy High Z sound.

It comes with a short cable and the period Astatic E6G model desk stand in which to display.

Pic # 2 is from an old Turner advertisement showing all 4 models of this series of mic and it's basic characteristics.

It should be noted that this is a non-working display model as the original element is no longer working but I have seen people put Shure Controlled Magnetic and Controlled Reluctance elements in these Turner mics as replacements. This will make a very nice display or prop piece however as the physical condition is so nice.

These are egg sized mics and easy to cup in the hand if you are using this with a harmonica. It should be noted that there is nothing is loose in or on the mic. Everything is real tight.

As seen in the pictures provided this mic has a very nice chrome plated satin finish showing typical small scuff marks and tiny scratches but it's free of any fractures, corrosion or dents.   The original inner black screen is in excellent condition and acts as a pop filter. The front grill is free of any dents or odors but there is a very tiny fracture that you might be able to see in pic # 4. The CD model came with a Turner badge and it's in excellent condition and completely legible. The BX and BD models didn't come with a badge but the CD did. For some reason the chrome plated models had the badge but Turner decided not to include them on the brown painted versions. Both threads for the cable and stand are in perfect condition.

Rarely do these mics still work due to their extreme age.

The mic has a short 8 inch cable that is soft, pliable and has a quality Cannon male XLR end connector which strictly for display purposes but looks good and compliments the mic.

The mic also comes with the beautiful period Astatic E6G model desk stand.

The stand is a 1940's era piece that has a cast aluminum painted base with a detachable painted wood riser / handle that compliments the mic and makes for a very stable platform. A twist of the handle allows the base to come free giving the user the ability to walk around with the handle in the mic.

This particular stand has extremely lite wear and adds a lot of character to the mic. The black painted handle shows almost no wear. Same for the painted base and there are zero dents or fractures. The stand has the original rubber pads on the bottom as well. Please let the detailed pictures be your guide.

Mic with stand is appx 9 inches tall X 5 inches wide.

The stand thread itself has the 5/8 X 27 universal thread and any screw on mic or mic clip will technically mate to the top of it.

A very cool mic to display anywhere in the home, office or studio. These CD models don't come much nicer than this physically speaking.
