• DISCUSSION: Gorgeous little, Murano Fratelli Toso toothpick holder/mini-vase. A beautiful small zanfirico piece, it is visually brilliant! Lots of activity in a small package and it's damage-free! Base finished un-ground with recessed pontil scar. Shows the expected shelf-wear of it's age (c. 1970s). Excellent addition to an art glass or toothpick holder collection, or a thoughtful gift for a special person--including yourself, of course!

• CONDITION: Excellent vintage condition! No damage.
FULL CONDITION REPORT: We thoroughly inspected this piece and found no cracks, chips, nicks, scuffs, flea bites, flakes, hairlines, significant scratches, repairs or evidence of grinding or restoration can be seen or felt. Any natural indentations, bubbles, tool marks and/or any other natural textural features are all original to this piece and normal for hand blown glass. Even babied art glass will over years acquire minor surface evidence of handling. This is not damage--and it's valued by collectors, establishing authenticity! Wear to the base is consistent with age. Please review all high-resolution photographs, at full size, in forming your own opinions.

🤥 FAKE Murano Glass? WATCH OUT! 🤨

INVEST IN THE REAL THING: All genuine Murano art glass is made ONLY on the small island group of MURANO, in Venice Bay, Italy. The enclave's closely guarded formulas, techniques and traditions date back to the thirteenth century—1292. That, and an unparraleled reputation for quality and value helps give genuine Murano glass its exclusivity, collectibility and resultant appreciation factor. So, investing in authentic Murano glass enriches your collection, and—if liquidated—it can pay benefits.
Establishing authenticity is of paramount importance and there has been abuses of the trademark name “Murano”. The name has been co-opted by a variety of outside glass makers, some with genuine talent , but mostly those tryoing to defraud the public
Glass makers with famous Italian names, working in other countries, don't make Murano glass, having family ancestors who were Murano masters, still don't make the authentic 'Murano' glass that carries that genuine value.
WATCH OUT FOR THESE: The most egregious Murano glass fraud is carried out by Chinese manufacturers, cranking out cheap fakes and fraudulently labeling them "Murano", as to pass them off as the valuable, genuine article. Please, be aware that many fakes have counterfeit Murano labels and may even say, 'Made in Italy'. Fake Brands: "Murano Cristalleria Ann Primrose”, "Murano Minchella Collection", "Murano Stile d'Art", "VEISES-MURANO”, or "Murano Glassware" is easily recognizable as one of the more common knock-off brands. These attempts are blatantly fraudulent and injurious to consumers and highly illegal, but the scale of their fraud overwhelms most country's Customs enforcement agencies, including that of the United States. These manufacturers, importers, and retailers (only some unwittingly) are CHEATING YOU! Don’t let it happen.
PROTECT YOURSELF: Try to buy from a reputable, knowledgeable dealer, or do your homework and research how to hopefully tell the difference! It takes examining and studying hundreds of examples to know for sure, but here is a quick clue. Thumbnail advice: The fakes are usually crude, inferior work, that when labeled almost always say, "Murano" and sometimes say, "Made in Italy". Murano work is always very high quality with very few bubbles, unless intentional! Fakes seldom have metallic inclusions (flakes/dust, a.k.a. aventurine) and when they do it is never real gold. FRATELLI TOSO HISTORY
Antica Vetreria Fratelli Toso is a traditional Murano glass factory since 1854. Fratelli Toso has always been one of the best in murrina production; indeed our collection includes some of the most beautiful examples of murrina vases in Murano. The value of our collection is made up by antique and original murrina used, impressive design and glass masters' craftsmanship. We do work with museums, important collectors and auction houses worldwide. Arnoldo comes directly from Toso brothers who started up the factory in 1854. He is in the family business since the '50s and from 1981 he runs Antica Vetreria Fratelli Toso by himself. From that moment on he has successfully managed Fratelli Toso glass collection; he works in the business of antique trade but also in collecting modern art together with his daughter Caterina.
