This  is  from a group  of  dolls  that were each individually hand made  years ago by Senora Diaz,

a Mexican woman who lived in the remote village of Chacala .Using her daughter's outgrown clothing,

she carefully sewed and decorated her dolls with jewelry and hair ornaments.

He has personality and character!  Wonderfully dressed in handmade clothes.

The body is cotton stuffed, jointed great expressive  face, cotton with embroidered features.

Embroidered features and is stuffed with  clothes and  fiber in a lovely folk art style.

Available to list  more  soon -The Senora doll  also had  her Señor

A matched pair would make a perfect wedding gift or special present for any child.

Because each doll was the unique creation of Senora Diaz, no doll is exactly alike.

However, each doll is made from a similar pattern and each doll is intrically embroidered with the same large, animated blue eyes.

In order to collect the dolls, years  ago  I  had  to  await the arrival of Miguel, the dollmaker's nephew who arrives at my home

near Puerto Villarta with the dolls strapped on the back of his burro.  He  made a five hour journey across the mountains

from Chacala, a village with no electricity or roads.

The income from the dolls gave  Senora Diaz money for corn and beans to feed her family, and for the materials for more dolls.
