Roman imperial dupondius of Maximinus I, 235-238 A.D., S-2359 (1988 Ed), R.I.C. 82, BMC 153. The obverse shows Maximinus wearing a radiate crown, draped, facing to the right. The obverse legend is "MAXIMINVS PIVS AVG GERM". The reverse shows Pax standing left holding branch and a transverse sceptre. The reverse legend shows "PAX AVGVSTI SC". The obverse show some brown, some green, and some dark red on the bronze surfaces, all of which are hard accretions. The reverse is mostly a medium bronze color, with the highest surface showing brighter bronze color.
