Description
HP ML350 Gen9 G9 SFF Power Splitter Add More Drive Cages W/out 4 PSU Backplane

If you found this listing then the chances are you faced the same issues as us when trying to add more than 3 drive cages to our ML350 G9. HP says you need 4 PSU and a super rare/expensive backplane. After searching for nearly a month we gave up and decided to do things our own way. Not wanting to cut/split the existing wiring we sourced the connectors and made our own easily installed/removed splitters. Plug existing power wire into the splitter socket and then the splitter plugs into each of the 2 drive cage backplanes. Job done :)

Using 3 of these splitters we were able to add an additional 3 cages to our ML350 (Total of 6 cages/48SFF Drives) at a fraction of the cost of 4 PSUs and a different power backplane. Our server has been running 48SFF for a while now without any issue and is still way under the 500w load of most standard power supplies. We run 1400w PSUs in ours but it turns out the standard 500w power supplies would have likely been fine for us.

This is our product, made by ourselves. It is not a HP supported configuration. It is assumed you know what you're doing. With that said, it's only a case of plugging the splitter into the existing wiring and then the other connectors into each drive cage.

Includes 1 x ML350 G9 SFF Power Splitter

To add 3 extra cages you would need 3 of these :)
