I couldn't resist this unique sterling silver squash blossom necklace by Navajo Martha Cayatineto when is saw it. A lot of the squash blossom I have seen lately look the same, and are poorly made. This one offers up something different which is why I grabbed it.

As you can see this is not your typical squash blossom design. I'm not really even sure you could call it a squash blossom as it doesn't have any blossoms on it just tomahawks. Yet the design speaks of the style of a squash blossom. I'll let you decide.

The construction is all hand made. The tomahawks are all hand cast, as is the Naja. The sterling silver beads are almost egg shaped, not rounded like most. Not store bought, as you can see the soldering on a number of them and whatever tool was used to make the half bead is very different from most. They are a peculiar 10 mm long by 9mm wide. The tomahawks are 30 mm long with a small round Arizona turquoise cab set in a tooth bezel on the tip. The Naja has a free floating orange spiny oyster cab with heavily stamped Kachina dancer surrounds. It measures 2 1/4" x 2 1/2" at it's widest point. The Naja is not removable from the necklace.

The length of the necklace is 26" not including the Naja, and weighs a total of 97.3g.
