These lights were designed to be user friendly, heavy-duty, beautiful and easily cleaned. The fitters that house the sockets are a heavy cast-iron two-piece design. All that originally came at a much higher price than much more common barn and industrial lights, meaning fewer were sold and very few remain and higher cost for those that do. However, a couple of hundred found me and have been carefully and meticulously restored for use with today's safety standards and bulbs in mind. Perfect for restaurants, homes, barns and garages.
Sold Individually, "C" Condition. Cosmetically, these shades are very far from perfect. They have an assortmant of character, an abundance of chips, or rust, or weld splatter, pitting etc. They have all served in a less than ideal environment. I, as well as many others, prefer this look to excellent condition. The cast-iron tops all have original green paint. That paint may be faded or have paint drips or surface rust but they will funtion perfectly. The threads all work well. Anything that did not warrant a "B" grade simply was placed with the "C's". If they didn't make the "C" grade, they are in the "D" grade box. All tops regardless of cosmetic condition have totally restored electrical with new UL Listed sockets, well grounded, PLUS a machined socket extension, basically, better than original. Perfect for restaurants, taverns barns etc. If you'd some patina along with an abundance of safety, these are for you. These are rated in "C" condition.
In order to allow the light to function as designed, I've added a 1-1/4 inch extension to the cast-iron socket fitter. This allows the bulb to extend an additional 1-1/4 inch into the sweet-spot of the shade for better efficiency and illumination. Today's bulbs are far shorter than they were when this light was manufactured. The extension is also perfect for the use of LED bulbs. (Don't let your bulbs get lost in the neck). And last but not least, the machined extension is designed to provide a good, solid ground, my commercial and safety conscious buyers LOVE this option....pass your inspections!!
The newer down-rods are 6" long. Other rod lengths available for the asking are 3" and 12".
The diameter of the shade is 16 inches. From the bottom of the shade to the point that the down-rod screws in is 11". The complete light is 17" tall. If no other choices are specified during checkout or an email soon after, the lights will ship with 6" down-rods.
The newer UL listed swivel hangers allow the lights to hang plumb, (vertical) even if your ceiling is not level, (horizontal) and also allows the lights to resist damage from accidental, (or purposeful), bumps and bruises.
