A very interesting 2 page photo illustrated article from a rare 1899 Victorian periodical, the article is entitled "A Crypt of Skulls" by Leslie McGregor concerning the Crypt at the Church of St Leonards in the Cinque port of Hythe where over 600 skulls are kept.

Article contains details of the theory about how the bones came to be in the cellar of the Church however this theory seems to be different to that on more recent websites

Photographic illustrations include

The Church of St Leonards Hythe

The interior of Hythe Church

A Wonderful pile of human bones

A general view of the crypt

There is also a cartoon page entitled "A cure for lumbago showing Mr Vanderpump and his efforts to cure his back problem. I am unable to decipher the artists signature

Please note these are genuine actual pages extracted from a rare Victorian disbound magazine there are no covers and article may include the ending or beginning of other articles. Whilst the images show the article in its still bound state, the article will be sent as loose pages. Some pages may be showing signs of foxing / browning due to the age of the paper
