GP Cool Black Blacking Kit

Developed as a more user friendly version of traditional gun blackening, blueing and parkerising, this cold oxide blackening kit will provide everything you need to blacken ferrous metals; mild steel fastenings and brackets. Oxide blackening increases the corrosion resistance of treated parts which can be maintained through regular application of our Sealer or through the use of oils and waxes.

Blackening can be done in large batches and is therefore ideal for small parts, but large parts can be put through the same process. Overall, blackening can be easier and simpler than other corrosion protection systems such as paints, chromates and electroplates.

When blackening, there is little dimensional impact on the parts. The process is a conversion coating meaning that the top layer is converted from one form of metal oxide to another.

Our blackening kit is ideal for batches of small parts.

Unlike other blacking systems we use Rogard supreme seal 500 as part of the process. This gives far better corrosion protection and abrasion resistance than the normal de watering oil on its own.

The kit contains:
    -   1 litre Light Duty Cleaner
  -  1 litre   Activator
    -  1 litre Blackening Solution
-  1 litre  Rogard Sealer
-  1 litre Dewatering Oil
    -    Cold Blackening Guide

The process is relatively safe and simple, it involves a multi-step dipping process on bare steel and iron. Like all metal treatment systems the key is to get the items back to clean bare metal before you start the blacking process:

    1.    GP1 alkaline cleaner
    2.    Rinse
    3.    Activator solution
    4.    Rinse
    5.    Blackening Solution
6.   Rogard sealer
    7.    DWF 2005 de watering oil
    8.    Allow to dry in a warm place

We pride ourselves on our customer service and we offer full backup with this kit including a telephone technical helpline, email backup for questions or queries and a range of replacement chemicals and anodes.

This kit contains chemicals that are classed as hazardous, so please check out over the safety data sheets and contact us if you have any questions. As the chemicals are hazardous, we use a specialist courier that is able to carry parcels that are labelled as LQ (limited quantity [hazardous]). Buyers from outside the UK should contact us as we are unfortunately unable to send to some countries.
