Rare Vintage SLANT NEEDLE Singer 1/8th" Braiding Presser Foot 160754 fits Singer 301-301a and other straight stitch slant needle sewing machines.
The Singer Singer Braiding Attachment was marketed to owners of the Singer model 301-301a slant needle sewing machine (the first slant needle model). The Singer 301-301a was one of the first Singer Sewing Machines to be made of cast aluminum rather than iron making it a true portable sewing machine.
When SInger MANufacturing COmpany (SIMANCO) introduced sewing machines with a zigzag head, they slowed and phased out production of some (not all) of the slant needle straight stitch accessories such as these making them scarce and sought after by Singer model 301-301a sewing machine owners.
For those of us who treasure our faithful 301's this is a lovely find!
Let me demonstrate some of the ways you can use your slant needle Singer Braiding Presser Foot to embellish your sewing project!

Even though this type of foot was primarily used with small braid such as soutache, if it fits, you stitch :)
The braid guide feeds the trim to the needle. If the trim is too narrow, it can move to the side and your trim will be sewn unevenly.
I played with 1/8th inch soutache braid.
Then I played with baby rick rack.
And rick rack on ribbon.
Followed by a scrap of narrow ribbon which just fit perfectly!
