High quality solid oak.  I could not find a makers mark of any known manufacturer, just comparable to some Arts & Crafts furniture designs circa 1900-1910.  

The previous owners said their family had it in their home in Maine.  I re-upholstered over the old cover just in case someone wants to date the material previously used.
