DESCRIPTION,This fantastic mid century chair was made in East Germany sometime in the 1960's we bought it in Berlin last month. 

This very stylish chair is ok condition but it has some issues with the fabric. Sometime in the last 20 years it has been reupholstered in white material which unfortunately shows every mark. It might clean but I cannot promise that so I am selling it as cheaper for recovering. It is typical of the style and design from this East German era of the mid 1960s.  

The shape of the back flaring out from the bottom towards the top is the style known as a Bartholomew cocktail chair. It is a fantastic looking chair which ever way you look at it and would bring a lot of style to any room in the house. 

It is typical of this period with lovely styling with little details like the splayed tapering Barcelona leg at the front and back, understated but a really effective way of lightening the whole chair,  there is also a brass collar on the end of each leg.

 This style of chair are very fashionable at the moment, chairs from this period like these have become something of a style icon, so much so they are being reproduced more than any other style at the moment.

The fabric looks like it is all original.

CONDITION.The frame is very strong and sturdy and there is no damage to the main structure of the chair there are one or two very light marks on the fabric. It is 65 years old so there are some more signs of wear please check all photographs  

It is a fantastic shape and could be recovered in a more contemporary fabric if you so desire, but personally I feel it is perfect as it is.

 Finally I will add that it is very comfortable. the seat is sprung but firm and the shape of the back is very supportive.

This chair in a good London mid century  shop  would be £400+. I know that because I supply a lot of them, if I had a pair I would ask £550So here is your chance to buy a great chair at a trade price.
