Phil Stern, photographer in Hollywood for Life magazine from the 1940s through the 1970s, has over the years captured an extraordinary range of acotrs, directors, cameramen and designers - at work, at home, playing brooding, living.  His subject included James Dean, Marilyn Monroe, Marlon Brando.... taken from his book Phil Stern's Hollywood Photographs, 1940-1979 Alfred A Knopf New York 1993

Phil also was passionate about Jazz and did a lot of portraits of the Musicians from 1993 onwards.
