Made from 3k rated waterproof fabric, Ion works well to keep light rain and drizzle out. Due to the high stretch properties of this waterproof fabric, the seams have not been taped as this would remove a great deal of the stretch, so Ion cannot technically be referred to as waterproof, hence the water-resistant reference. Rated at 3,000mm waterproof and 3k breathability, the Ion cycling jacket withstands light rain and transfers a decent amount of moisture away from the body. Waterproof and breathability explained: Waterproof ratings refer to the column water height reached over a 1' x 1' area of fabric before water starts to penetrate. 3,000mm = 300cm = 118' = over 9' ' that's quite a lot of water on the jacket surface before penetration.
