Hello and welcome to The house of Chrome.

You are looking at one of the most famous and collectible Turner mics of all time. The Turner 33D with heavy deco influence and outrageous style that set it apart from every other microphone ever designed. This is the early 1940's 33D 1st generation series mic and it comes with the 1950's era Atlas DS-10 "Streamliner" desk stand shown which really compliments the mic.

You'll see in pic # 2 an old 1940's Turner advertisement showing specs and priced on this mic.

The 33 series was first introduced in the 1940's and had a run of about 20 + years. The first generation 33 mics had a rounded lower pistol grip while the 2nd generation had the flat rectangular lower front pistol grip. Otherwise, the microphone looked the same. The 33 series also came with either a crystal or dynamic element. The crystal elements were inferior and wore out over time while the dynamic elements sounded much better and tended to last over the decades.

This is the dynamic version but sure enough the original element no longer works. This should be used for repair, display or prop purposes only.

As you can see the satin chrome finish is in pretty good overall condition but shows a bit of wear in the form of scuffs marks, tiny pitting and scratches as seen in the pics provided. No engravings however. The satin chrome finish has a decent luster still and it will make for a good display piece. The black cloth screen is perfect and the joint mechanism is flawless offering plenty of resistance to get the right angle needed and the threads for both the cable and stand are perfect.

The Turner badge looks pretty good with a bit of wear but still legible.

The overall finish of the mic I would give a very conservative 7 on a scale of 1 - 10.

MICROPHONE STAND IS PART OF THIS SALE...

The stand is a 1950's era Atlas DS-10 "Streamliner" model with the painted aluminum base and 4 inch riser. The DS-10 makes for a very stable platform and compliments the mic nicely.

This stand has typical wear as you can see. The grey paint isn't too bad though there are scuff marks and scratches on most of the surface. The detachable chrome strip in the center shows some corrosion but does a good job of securing and hiding the cable beneath which is what it was intended to do. The base has the 5 original plastic pads as well to keep the base from scratching any surface it may rest on. You'll notice there is an old on / off toggle switch that was used to turn the mic on and off. The switch shows wear and is no longer wired but could be again at some point if needed. Mic with stand is appx 9 inches tall X 5 1/2 inches wide X 7 inches deep.

Mic will screw onto any desk or floor stand you have if you don't like the desk stand provided.

There is a short period cable provided to complete the look of the mic. It's soft, pliable and free of damage. it has a period Cannon female XLR end connector attached. This will make a very cool display piece anywhere in the home, studio or workplace.
