1906 edition of The Song of Hiawatha by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Of particular note in this Bobbs-Merrill Company publication are the celebrated illustrations by Harrison Fisher, one of the most accomplished artists of his time. The illustrations from this book are widely regarded as among Fisher's finest work, in part because of his great success in portraying the dignity and beauty of his Native American subjects and their natural world. According to the book's table of illustrations, this striking full page image is titled "All the Women Came to Hear Him ." Harrison Fisher's distinctive signature and the date "1906" are clearly visible in the image.
