Delchi fu fondata nel 1908 a Milano dagli ing. Chieregatti e Donesana come SA Dell'Orto, e subito si specializzò in apparecchi per la ventilazione e la climatizzazione. Successivamente andò specializzandosi anche nella produzione di stufe. Nel 1939 produsse il primo sistema di aria condizionata. Nel 1952 divenne sussidiaria della statunitense White Westinghouse. Nel 1966 l'impresa mutò denominazione in Delchi S.p.A., in cui il termine Delchi indicò la contrazione dei cognomi Dell'Orto e Chieregatti.
Delchi si espanse ai mercati esteri, e tra gli anni settanta e i primi anni ottanta fu il primo produttore europeo di climatizzatori. Passa nel 1983 alla statunitense Carrier Corporation, della quale fino ad oggi fa parte.
Delchi was founded in 1908 in Milan by Eng. Chieregatti and Donesana as SA Dell'Orto, and immediately specialized in ventilation and air conditioning devices. Later he also specialized in the production of stoves. In 1939 he produced the first air conditioning system. In 1952 it became a subsidiary of the White Westinghouse . In 1966 the company changed its name to Delchi S.p.A., in which the term Delchi indicated the contraction of the surnames Dell'Orto and Chieregatti. Delchi expanded to foreign markets, and between the seventies and the early eighties was the first European manufacturer of air conditioners. Sold it in 1983 to the american Carrier Corporation of which until today it is part.
