And now for something completely different. In the post-war years in Australia there were a number of cars that seemed to be good but for a variety of reasons they did not sell in the numbers expected of them. I have gathered 50 of these cars and described them in brief detail and tried to explain why they did not sell or were unsuccessful in our market. I am not deriding them as others have done. Models included are Chrysler Royal, Alfasud, Morris 1500, Lightburn Zeta, Simca Vedette, Triumph Herald, Volvo 360 and many more. Accompanying each are some excellent photographs, brief specifications, some performance indicators, numbers built (where known) and prices.

Dead Ends and Duffers will only be available in soft cover.

Synopsis

is a light-hearted look at 50 cars sold in Australia in the post-war years. These cars were either technical Dead Ends - Hillman Imp, Lightburn Zeta - or Duffers - Morris Marina, Triumph Herald - or in several cases they were both!

Other cars discussed in its 158 pages include the Austin Tasman / Kimberley, Chrysler Royal, Ford Falcon XL, Holden Brougham, Morris 1500, Suzuki X90 and Vauxhall Viva.

Included with each car discussed are brief specifications, years of manufacture, numbers built, performance figures and many photographs.

Dead Ends and Duffers is an ideal book for those who were there in those interesting years.
