1900's Chinese Pewter Encased Yixing Zisha Pottery Tea Teapot Marked.



This rare Yixing Zisha tea pot was made in the early 1900’s, in the late Qing dynasty and early Republic era.


Description

This rare clay teapot was made in the early 1900’s. It is fully hand-refined, with fine black clay outside, purple clay inside and pewter all the over the pot. Using the pewter wrapping process, the pot body is carved with two dragons playing a fire ball, the spout is made of clay and wrapped with pewter. It has two copper lifting handles. The shape of the pot is very simple and round, the lines are smooth, the proportion is appropriate.


On the top of the lid of the pot, the "光緒通寶”Chinese characters were carefully engraved. The bottom of the pot was marked with “宜興紫砂“

Height 12.5cm/4.5”, length 20.5 cm/8”, diameter of the pot 16cm/6”, bottom diameter 12cm/4.5”, weight 1134 grams/2lbs 8 ozs


Condition: It is in great antique condition with signs of wear but no chips or hairline.
