Finely engraved early 1900s stationery from the Denison Hotel in Indianapolis, IN. This is a letter from actress Mary Shaw to photographer Alice Boughton. It concerns her account with Boughton and requests some pictures be sent to several locations. Both women were early feminists. Ms Shaw mentions that she will be appearing at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles which would help to date this; unfortunately; I can find no records of her performance. (6" x 9.4") The envelope is not from this correspondence, I have included it only because it is addressed to Ms Boughton (franked with Scott #324): (5.1" x 4.1")

Please examine pictures closely for condition. Creased where previously folded (twice horizontally) with a few additional small creases, substantial tears at all edges of the folds (first page: 2.4", 1.7", 1.6", 3/4", second page: 2.4", 2.2", 1.9", 1.8") with a few additional small (<1/4") tears in the edges, a few small stains, page one has an ink line through the hotel name, page two has corner missing at the upper right and pieces missing at the middle left edge. Envelope has multiple creases, opened roughly at the top with parts of the flap missing, 5/16" and 3/16" tears at the top on the front (do not affect stamp), a few small stains, toning at the edges. Pages must be handled with care to avoid further damage due to the large tears.

Will refold at original creases for shipping.
