The B-52D was first deployed 1955 as a high altitude “atomic bomber”. As the conflict in South East Asia expanded the B-52D was adapted for use as a high altitude conventional bomber and deployed in Viet Nam. The bomb laden B-52D with the unique SE Asia camouflage scheme came to be recognized as a symbol of US military power used during the Viet Nam conflict.
The new Minicraft B-52D features new fuselage tooling representing the high-tail “D” model, new “D” engines and tail armament. New tooling also includes bombs as carried on external pylons. The kit also includes high quality Cartograf decals and 2 marking options including a Strategic Air Command atom bomb armed sentinel of the cold war, and as middle aged conventional bomber as deployed over the skies Viet Nam.
