The kit includes everything in the photo, including the vintage CV4504 diode tube valve. This is a single diode similar to half of 6AL5

You can use this in conjunction with the crystal radio experimental board, connect the diode section instead of the germanium diode. 

The board requires 6V DC heater volts of 150mA. Alternatively you can use a 5v USB power supply , either remove the USB connector or use a small USB socket.
