Mainzer Hartung Anthropomorphic Humanized Cats/Clothes Postcard-Photographer/Dog/Ball 4905 Belgium

Colorful postcards with fantasy artwork by Eugene Hartung (1897-1973), published by Alfred Mainzer. Very good unused condition. Smooth texture surface with fancy edgings.

The photo of the back of the postcard is what all the Hartung postcards look like, just a different number. As you can see these are prior to zip codes, 1950-1960. Printed in Belgium, sidebar "Alfred Mainzer Inc., 39-33 29th St., Long Island City, 1, New York"

His signature logo is a little heart with a loop or “tongue” in the center.  That symbol should appear in one of the bottom corners on the front of the postcards, though there are a few occasions when it was cut off during the printing process.

The Alfred Mainzer Company still exists.  Around 2005 the company had 100 of the postcards reprinted as a collector edition. In 2009, the majority of the postcards were burned in a fire, and all of the remaining stock was sold out by the end of that year.

Please note; eBay photos are not always correct in exact colors. I try my best but most of the times things are better in person.
