IMPORTANT: The first size is the size of the filter thread of your lens. For example, a 52-58mm step ring has a 52mm MALE thread and a 58mm FEMALE thread. It will screw into the 52mm filter thread on your lens leaving a 58mm FEMALE thread on the outside for you to attach a 58mm filter or accessory.
