It is standard practice in all recording studios to keep the tape "tail out". This reduces "pre-echo" and it means that the tape should be placed on the right hand side of the recorder, re-wound and then played.
2xHD Mastering and Duplication: René Laflamme
For the 2xHD transfer of this recording, the original 1/4”, NAB master tape was played on a Nagra-T modified with high-end tube playback electronics, wired with OCC silver cable from the playback head direct to a Telefunken EF806 tube. The Nagra-T has one of the best transports ever made, having four direct drive motors, two pinch rollers and a tape tension head.
The 2xHD proprietary mastering provides a unique listening experience as the process digs deep in original recordings to bring out all hidden information, without altering the music in any way, uncovering and bringing out nuances, warmth, depth of field and even the air around the musicians.
Mastered at 2xHD on Nagra equipment and cut at famed Bernie Grundman Mastering, the set is pure analogue from original master tapes.
