This is a decorative Mallard Drake Decoy carved by Tom Taber/Hersey Kyle, Jr.  It is full size and is attached with a screw to a pine box lid.  At one time it would have been sold, probably at a Ducks Unlimited fundraising event,  and it would have included the Decoy and a pine trinket/small storage type box.  When we found it, the lower portion of the Box was missing.   The lid is signed by Tom Taber and Hersey Kyle, Jr. ( We removed the decoy to check and it is not signed by them.)  The Decoy is in excellent condition with no damage that we could find.  Their decoys were typically carved from distressed wood.  Also typical of their decoys was a finish of paints and stains that allow the beauty of the wood to enhance the appearance of the bird.  It is full size, measuring 17.5 inches from beak to tail and weighing over 3 pounds.  The Box lid measures 12.5 x 6.75 inches around the edge.

We have no history of the Decoy or reason for the missing Box.  We thought we would offer the decoy with the lid in hopes someone who likes Tom Taber Decoys might wish to build a box to fit it. (The boxes they built were typically pine with a very simple design using rabbit joints and a pine plate on the underneath.  We can have on made but it would add $40.0 to the cost of the decoy.). We can ship it within the U.S. for $12.00 or less and accept returns for any reason within 30 days.  No one ever returns a Tom Taber Decoy though.
