Old Pair Of Asian Blanc de Chine White Porcelain Foo Fu Dogs Lions Marked.

This amazingly hand made pair of foo dogs are one male and one female. They were made so well that you can see their muscles vividly after so many years. Their facial expressions show their personalities as well. The one on the right is the male. Its flighty open mouth makes it like barking, definitely very aggressive. The one on the left is the female. It looks more submissive.

Foo dogs were originated in China. Meant to be in pairs. Foo dogs are symbolic, protective statues – one is female and one is male. The female represents yin and symbolically protects the people dwelling in the home, while the male represents yang, protects the structure itself.

Both foo dogs are marked with maker’s mark. Both Chinese culture and Japanese culture celebrate foo dogs. It’s hard to tell which country this pair of foo dogs were made. This amazing pair of foo dogs could be a nice display on a coffee table or dinning table, symbolically protecting your family. Porcelain foo dogs are selling for as high as $12,000 online depending on their quality. See the last picture for reference.
