For sale is a matted and Antique/Vintage print entitled SETTING OUT TO THE FAIR.  Description: A young couple leaving a house hand in hand, bidding farewell to an old woman by the door, with her left forefinger raised. The image was originally painted by British Artist Francis Wheatly and then made into and engraving by renowned British engraver, John Eginton. The overall size of the frame is approximately 15” by 18” while the image measures 8.75” by 10.75”. Please note that the frame does not have glass. Inscriptions: Lettered below image with title, two columns of verse beginning, "Beware, my Daughter'a warm Lovers wiles,...", and: "Painted by F. Wheatley. RA/ Engraved by J Eginton/ LONDON Published Novr. 10th. 1792 by Jee & Eginton & sold by J.F.Tomkins N 49 New Bond Street." We are not sure of the exact date of the print as we purchased it at an Art Estate Sale, but it is in lovely Vintage condition with vibrant color having been safely stored away all these years. The frame is in lovely Vintage condition as well. There are rips in the brown paper backing which does not compromise the integrity of the piece and can easily be replaced. About the Artist and Engraver: Artist: Francis Wheatley 1747–1801 Frances Wheatly was a British portrait and landscape painter born in London whose early works were mainly small full-length portraits and conversation pieces in the manner of Zoffany. In 1779 he moved to Dublin to escape creditors, and, after his return to London in 1783, his work broadened in scope to include landscapes, historical paintings, and life-size portraits, but he is best known for works produced to be engraved for the print market.
