The creation of the Battery Charger VBCS Triple is a completely new unit combination consisting of a Mains Charger Pb, a Charging Converter VCC and a Solar Controller MPP, which ensures the energy supply in the camper. The batteries will always be charged automatically, regardless if during driving or at the parking lot. Particularly the amply dimensioned charging capacity of the integrated charging converter of 30, 45 or 60 A ensures battery charging with full charging current, even at short distances, and that it is fully charged at the destination.

The units of series VAC Triple consist of a VAC, mains supply charger and a VCC charging converter including battery trainer. Instead of the integrated MPP solar controller of series VBCS Triple, the units are equipped with an intelligent charging current distributor, which distributes the charging current of the mains supply charger and supplies a higher charging current of 10 A or 15 A to the starter battery. That way, higher loads can be floated at the starter battery (entertainment, blue light, siren etc.) to ensure that the vehicle can be started at any time. If the starter battery does not need the high charging current any more, the charging current distributor supplies the excess charging current to the board battery.

Regarding quality, equipment and functions, both series are identical to the VOTRONIC individual units, and it distinguishes themself by the particularly compact and lightweight design. The units extremely contribute to cost saving and help to gain valuable space in the camper. Acquisition, installation, cabling and connection wiring are reduced to a minimum in order to conserve valuable resources.

Designed for well-established battery sizes, three different unit combinations are available. All units are equipped with 8 characteristic lines of charging for lead-acid, gel and AGM batteries, as well as - future-proof - for Lithium LiFePO4 batteries. The integrated battery trainer keeps the board batteries ready for operation during extended stop periods.

The LCD-Charge Control Swhich had been developed specifically for this charging unit, indicates all important unit information. Furthermore, the charger can be adapted to the energy supply of the parking lot. All Battery Chargers VBCS Triple are also compatible to all VPC Combi Panels with Solar Computer Function.

Mains Operation, during standstill operation at the external socket of the mains supply:

  1. The full charging capacity in the universal wide range from 110 V AC ‐ 230 V AC without any switching is available worldwide, even in case of large deviations in the power supply (low voltage/overvoltage, sine curve, frequency).
  2. Efficient charging of the board battery and supply of the 12 V consumers via mains.
  3. Auxiliary charging 12 V/4‐5 A for support charging and trickle charging of the vehicle's (lead) starter battery in case of extended standstill periods.
  4. Due to the long‐term characteristic lines of charging, the unit may be connected continuously to the mains (such as for standstill periods or winter breaks).

Charging Converter, „B2B“ Operation, mobile operation from dynamo and starter battery (Battery to Battery):

  1. The efficient charging converter (booster) allows full charging of the board battery during driving.
  2. It increases/reduces the voltage to the level, which is required for precise charging of the board battery with the optimum characteristic line of charging.
  3. Cable losses and considerable voltage fluctuations of the dynamo, known from Euro 6 vehicles, are completely compensated.
  4. The simultaneously supplied 12 V consumers are protected against overvoltage and voltage fluctuations.

Solar Operation, „MPP“ (Maximum‐Power‐Point):

  1. Controllers according to the MPP technology are continuously and automatically calculating the maximum power yield (MPP) of the solar modules several times per second. This surplus of charging current of 10 % to 30 % ensures short charging times and the best possible power yield of the solar system.
  2. Auxiliary charging for support charging and trickle charging of the vehicle's starter battery in case of extended standstill periods.
  3. Terminal „AES“, for automatic commutation of refrigerators with “AES” (Automatic Energy Selector, Electrolux / Dometic) from gas operation to 12 V operation in case of excess solar power.

Pulser Operation, training for the board battery during the charging breaks, if a charging source is not existing:

  • The battery training protects the unused (lead) battery during the winter break, seasonal operation or extended standstill periods from premature ageing and failure due to sulphation.

Further Characteristics:

  1. The charging voltage being free from peaks is controlled in such a way, that overcharging of the batteries is excluded.
  2. All‐automatic Continuous Operation: The charger may be connected continuously to the batteries, thus keeping the full charge. If the charging source is missing (power failure, engine stop, night), the batteries will not be discharged.
  3. Parallel and Floating Operation: In case of simultaneous consumption, charging of the battery is continued or trickle charging is effected. Calculation and control of the adaptation of the charging times is effected automatically by the charger.
  4. Unattended Charging: Multiple protection against overload, overheating, overvoltage, short‐ circuit, incorrect behaviour and back discharge of the battery by electronically controlled gradual reduction down to complete separation of charger and battery.
  5. Power Pack Function: Allows supply of the consumers without battery (such as during battery replacement).
  6. Integrated On‐board Mains Suppression Filter: Unproblematic parallel operation of further charging sources (winddriven, motor ‐driven and petrol‐driven generators) at one battery.
  7. Charging Cable Compensation: Automatic compensation of voltage losses on the charging cables.
  8. Connection for Battery Temperature Sensor (included in the standard delivery scope): Lead batteries (acid, gel, AGM): In case of low outside temperatures, full charging of the weak battery is improved by automatic adaptation of the charging voltage to the battery temperature, and in case of summery temperatures unnecessary battery gassing will be avoided. LiFePO4 Batteries: Battery protection in case of high temperatures or particularly in case of low temperatures < 0°C. Highly recommended, if the battery temperature might drop below 0 °C during operation.
  9. Lead Battery regeneration in case of standstill: automatically twice a week to avoid harmful acid accumulation
  10. Charging aid for totally discharged lead batteries: Gentle preliminary charging of the (lead‐acid, gel, AGM) battery to 8 V, followed by powerful support of the battery, in case of possibly switched‐on consumers.

Charging Programs

1„Gel“: Charging Program for Gel Batteries, Characteristic Line IU1oU2
Adapted to closed, gas-tight gel/dryfit batteries with determined electrolyte, which are generally requiring a higher charging voltage level and longer dwell times U1 to achieve short charging times with particularly high capacity storage and to avoid total discharge. Also recommended for EXIDE MAXXIMA a high-current battery in AGM filament technology.

2„AGM“: Charging Program for AGM/Fleece Batteries, Characteristic Line IU1oU2
Adapted to charging closed, gas-tight AGM (absorbed glass mat) batteries and batteries in lead-fleece technology requiring a particularly high level U1 with adapted dwell times for full charging and after that a moderate level U2 for trickle charge (round cell and plate technology).

3„DIN 0510“: Charging Program for Lead, Acid/Lead-Acid Batteries, Characteristic Line IU1oU2
General characteristic line DIN for charging and conservation to charge of open and closed lead storage batteries with removable cell plugs and possibility of acid level control and acid level correction (maintenance). Also suitable for recently developed, closed battery types (low-antimonous, with lead-silver alloy, calcium etc.) with low and very low water consumption.
Allows short charging times with high level U1, high charging factor and high acid mixing, even during stationary application (acid accumulation) of "wet" drive, lighting, solar, heavy duty and standard batteries.

4„UNIVERSAL“: Charging Program for Lead, Acid/Lead-Acid Batteries: Characteristic Line IU1oU2oU3
Universal program for charging and conservation of charge of acid batteries in vehicles (mixed operation mobile/stationary). Still offers short charging times, good charging factor and good acid mixing with average level U1 for open and closed, low-maintenance, maintenance-free standard, drive, lighting, solar and heavy duty batteries.
