The "Comando" brand knives were manufactured from the 70s until the end of the 90s.
Despite the name "Commando", it was never a regulation or military knife, the name "Commando" was used mostly to attract customers, because the design of this knife is far from being a true tactical knife, being more of a model for boy scouts.
This knife is very particular, its condition is mint, it is dated 1995, it is presented as a set in a box lined in rustic paper marked "LEGITIMO CUCHILLO COMANDO", with a sheath for the set in black leather with its interior lined in thinner brown leather stitched and glued, it has a snap fastener and has two protective flaps on the sides, there are two loops sewn inside to hold the knife's scabbard and a 92 mm - 3-5/8" conical knife sharpener with its brown scabbard.
This knife was one of the least common gifts that were given only to selected supporters and contributors of the Re-election Team of President Menem of Argentina during the 1995 Presidential Elections.
Carlos Saul Menem (1930-2021) was twice elected President of the Argentine Republic (1989/1995 and 1995/1999) and up to today was by far the most charismatic and best politically connected worldwide Argentine President since the return of democracy after the dark years of the Junta (1976-1983).
This knife was NOT of Menem's personal use or from his personal collection, but was part of the best gifts of his team during his 1995 re-election.
