SPIDER-WOMAN Rumored To Take Place In The MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) As Part Of Marvel Studios' Deal With Sony Pictures

** An interesting new rumour has started doing the rounds today about Sony Pictures' Spider-Woman plans, with the suggestion being that Jessica Drew's origin could play out in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

** A Spider-Woman project is in development with Olivia Wilde set to direct, but a new rumour suggests that Jessica Drew could join Peter as part of the MCU.

**It's said that "[for] at least the first film, Spider-Woman may follow the same line as Spider-Man in the MCU, being under the Marvel Studios label in association with Sony Pictures, in an attempt to have her more at home around the universe

** Needless to say, it's best to take this with a pinch of salt for now, but Spider-Woman would be right at home in the MCU. Jessica has lots of history with the Avengers, S.H.I.E.L.D., and even the Skrulls, so there are any number of ways she could be used by Marvel Studios in Phase 4 and beyond.

** We'll have to wait and see, but more collaboration between Marvel Studios and Sony would be no bad thing, especially if it leads to an even greater variety of character interactions on screen. After all, who wouldn't want to see Spider-Man teaming up with Spider-Woman or battling Venom?

** December 23/2021; According to Movie Web, Olivia Wilde is currently connected to an untitled upcoming Marvel movie that’s rumored to follow the story of Jessica Drew, aka Spider-Woman. Olivia closed a private deal to develop and direct a top-secret Marvel flick with Sony Pictures Universe including Marvel characters.

** Jessica Drew's character is part of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2. This movie is currently in production and set to be released in the fall of 2022. As of now, The voice actress hired to take on the role of Spider-Woman is Issa Rae from Insecure. The first Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse movie focuses on the interesting story of Miles Morales as he navigates his spider powers for the first time while hanging out with Gwen Stacy.
