Its structure is dominated by: triterpene saponins; Asiaticoside (possesses the highest antioxidant activity; its metabolite is aziatic acid);
Madecassoside (the metabolite is Madecassic acid), the substances that cause the main pharmacological effects of Centella Asiatica are pentacyclic triterpene compounds: asiaticoside, Madecaside, and their metabolites.
