Seiter's Market, with the large head of a bull or steer in the center, facing left. The reverse shows a shield in the center, with an eagle on top, holding branches and arrows in its claws, and a ribbon or banner in its beak. The banner or ribbon has on it "E PLURIBUS UNUM". Below the shield is the date, 1863. Around the upper half border is "UNITED STATES MEDAL". The is toned mostly a light brown over most of the surface, but shows a little flash around the lettering at the border. The reverse is similarly toned a light brown, but gives the appearance of the toning being over a gray color, as it is.
